Nico le Roux
Locally, Nico managed the Lions Academy for 6 years during a period (1990’s) that Lions rugby was one of the powerhouses in South Africa.
Nico has been involved in different coaching roles (technical and tactical) for several professional teams alongside some of the world’s most astute coaches. For example, he helped to develop and coach the Chiefs’ attacking and back play for 4 years, and worked extensively with a Harbour backline boasting exceptional talent such as Luke McAlister, Rudi Wolf, Anthony Tuitavake and Jonah Lomu.
Internationally, Nico has worked with the All Blacks, the New Zealand A team, the Chiefs, Waikato, the Blues and North Harbour.
Some of the results that Nico’s influence has helped to achieve:
- Harbour won the Ranfurly Shield for the first time in their history
- Waikato winning ratio up from 53% to 74%
- Blues winning ratio up from 50% to 63%
- Professional teams assisted by Nico have reached 9 playoffs berths in 10 competitions
Nico currently consults and is working on projects for different rugby unions and clients.
